Davis and Colleagues Publish Essay on Police Repression of Pro-Palestine Activism
In their essay “Police Repression Is the Problem, Not the Solution,” CARL Director Dr. Charles H.F. Davis III, Dr. Jude Paul Dizon, Dr. Vanessa Miller, and Jessica Hatrick offer an incisive critique of colleges and universities mobilizing campus and municipal police in response to Encampment for Gaza protests.
The authors argue that moral bankruptcy and institutional authoritarianism best describe the increasingly violent campus climate for pro-Palestinian student activism and urge institutional leaders to discontinue the use of armed police against encampment protestors.
